Abiqua School

This 60-foot-long mural at Abiqua School in Salem, Oregon was designed as a site-specific piece to bring Oregon themes and school identity into the students’ everyday environment. The imagery includes local wildlife and natural elements that connect to what students are learning, along with animals that represent the school’s different learning groups.

A key part of the design is the school’s HEART values—Honor, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork. These values are woven into the composition as a way to reinforce shared ideas within the school community. The project was a chance to combine illustration, storytelling, and environmental scale to create something students experience regularly as part of their school space.
